What is domain registration?

Domain registration is the purchase of a domain name.

Domain is the name you give to your website. A domain usually consists of two parts separated by dot.

Domains are organised in levels:

First-level domain names are the top-level domains (TLD) (e.g., .com, .org);
Second-level domain (SLD) is text directly to the left of TLD (e.g., example.com);
Third-level domain is to the left of SLD, also called subdomain;
The levels separated by dot can also be fourth, fifth, and so on.

Each website must have at least one domain. Without domain the website cannot be opened in browser.
